A coin sorter is a specialized machine designed to automate the process of organizing and separating mixed currency coins by their denomination. Often confused with basic coin counters, sorters go a step further by physically separating coins into distinct compartments or tubes.

Mechanical Sorting (Size-Based): Coins are often passed over a surface or through channels with progressively sized holes or slots. The smallest coins fall through the first corresponding hole, the next largest through the next, and so on. This mechanism relies on the coin's diameter and thickness.
